Advanced Voice Mode with Vision

The newly enhanced Advanced Voice Mode now incorporates vision, enabling users of ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Pro subscriptions to interact with objects in near real time through the ChatGPT app. Users can point their phone cameras at objects, and ChatGPT will provide instant responses.

This feature also supports screen sharing, allowing ChatGPT to interpret device screens, explain settings menus, or assist with tasks like solving math problems.

How to Use the Feature:

  • To activate Advanced Voice Mode with vision: Tap the voice icon near the chat bar, then the video icon at the bottom left to start video.
  • To screen-share: Open the three-dot menu and select “Share Screen.”

Rollout Timeline

The feature rollout began on Thursday and is expected to be completed within a week. However, not all users will gain access immediately:

  • ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu subscribers will have to wait until January.
  • Users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein are not yet eligible, with no timeline announced for availability.

Demonstration and Real-World Use

In a recent demo on CBS News’ 60 Minutes, OpenAI President Greg Brockman showcased the feature’s potential by quizzing Anderson Cooper on anatomy. As Cooper sketched body parts on a blackboard, ChatGPT identified and critiqued the drawings, saying:

“The location is spot on. The brain is right there in the head. As for the shape, it’s a good start. The brain is more of an oval.”
